Little Cuyahoga River Restoration – Phase II

The second phase of the Little Cuyahoga River Restoration Project restored over 2,200 LF of the riverbed from Martha Avenue to Kelly Avenue. The goal of the restoration project was to improve river conditions by expanding a functional floodplain area, increasing stream pattern by adding additional channel length, creating appropriate riffle pool features, enhancing riparian plantings and adding diversity to in-stream habitats. The project included detailed and specialized river, wetland and floodplain restoration work. In addition to the river restoration, Kenmore crews also constructed the Little Cuyahoga River Trail and well as structural improvements by replacing the Kelly Avenue and 3rd Avenue Bridge structures.
