The Lock 3 Phase II Project, located in downtown Akron, made improvements to the Ohio & Erie Canal’s Lock 3, at West Bowery Street and South Main Street. The work included the construction of a hill and walkway from Bowery down into the site, behind the South Main Street buildings. It also included the construction of a retaining wall and weir in the canal, as well as various site lighting and aesthetic treatments. The space is now a common area and gathering place in the heart of downtown Akron.
