Bartges Street Bridge and Towpath

City of Akron

$4,700,000

The Bartges Street Bridge and Towpath Project called for Kenmore to replace the existing box beam bridge on Bartges Street in downtown Akron and replace it with a new pre-cast concrete bridge that will cross both the canal and the proposed towpath trail with a series of two arched spans. The next phase of the project was to construct a towpath trail on the east side of the Ohio and Erie Canal which included a premanufactured pedestrian bridge over the canal. Additional work included the pavement reconstruction, utility relocation, sanitary sewers, and the demolition of the existing Falor Street Bridge.
